Assessment: Chapter 1



Opening Prayer: Apostles’ Creed {new handout}



Lesson 1: Review



  • Assessment Chapter 1 Review
  • The Bible or scriptures is actually a collection of many books.
  • The word Testament means a promise, agreement, or covenant.




Lesson 2: Exploring the Bible



  • Complete worksheet “Exploring the Bible” in pairs


  • Two major parts of the Bible: Old & New Testament
  • Each Testament had different “sections”
  • The first sections are called

    • Old Testament = Pentateuch = 5 books




Genesis/Exodus/Leviticus/Numbers/Deuteronomy


    • New Testament = Gospels = 4 books



Matthew/Mark/Luke/John



Lesson 3: Chapter 2 We Believe

  • Highlight Key Words: covenant, Genesis, human dignity, free will, conscience
  • We Believe

    • God created the universe (in six days and rested on the seventh)
    • God is the source of all life {He is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present.
    • Human beings are created on God’s image and likeness
